The Story of AP

American Provenance was founded by a former middle school science teacher. The company originated from his concern over the questionable ingredients found in the products used by his students. This inspired him to challenge his students to create their own deodorant and other personal care products–all without using harsh chemicals. After several years of experiments and improvements to his own formulas, he decided to launch American Provenance from an updated machine shed on his fourth-generation family farm. In just a few short years American Provenance has experienced exponential growth online as well as at brick and mortar stores. It can now be found in more than 3,500 retailers across the country.

 

Staff

Kyle LaFond, Founder
Kyle LaFond is the Founder of American Provenance. His prior experiences include work as a wildlife biologist and middle school science teacher. Kyle provides the vision and leadership for the growing brand and has assembled an experienced and dynamic team to further the company's mission and reach their shared goals.

David Gobeli, General Manager
General Manager, David Gobeli, has been with AP since its launch in 2015. As a passionate creator, David was a natural fit for American Provenance. As General Manager, he is responsible for daily oversight at the AP production facility as well as working with the Creative and Marketing teams to strengthen and promote the mission.

Greta Geiger, Creative Director
Greta has been with American Provenance since it was established in 2015, using her previous design knowledge and experience to help conceptualize and materialize the company’s vision. In her role as Creative Director, she works with Sales and Marketing to develop, design and maintain American Provenance’s look, purpose and vision.

Jessica Spang, Director of Sales
Jessica oversees brick and mortar sales from national accounts and individual retailers. She is responsible for orchestrating advertising for wholesale partners and manages distributor and broker relationships.

Amanda Steyer, Operations Manager
Amanda is the Operations Manager at American Provenance. Her prior work experience in nonprofit management and the service industry has coined her “Jill of all trades.” Social media management, customer experience and overall brand awareness are a few of the areas that Amanda oversees. Amanda’s degree in chemistry has also allowed her to lead new product development.

FAQs

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS DEODORANTS OR ANTIPERSPIRANTS?
Our deodorants are intended to improve the way you smell throughout the course of your day. Antiperspirants often employ metals (i.e. aluminum) to block the pores in your armpits to prevent sweating. Sweating is actually a very good thing. Sweating is one of the ways that we all thermoregulate. When we sweat our body releases water which helps us to cool down as it evaporates. When we sweat, we not only release water but our bodies also expel toxins, minerals and other substances.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS FOR MEN, WOMEN OR UNISEX?
All of our products are made for whoever likes them! We have four that are more woodsy and four that are more floral with some single scents thrown in for fun. We think you should wear what you like so don't associate gender with scent.

DO YOU TEST ON ANIMALS?
Absolutely not. No cruelty. Ever. We don’t test our products or ingredients on animals nor pay any person or firm to do the testing for us. Our ingredients have been used for hundreds of years to moisturize and protect.

DO YOU USE PRESERVATIVES IN YOUR PRODUCTS?
No, we don’t use any preservatives, natural or artificial, in any of our products. Preservatives are needed when water is used in a product. Water is a filler and contributes to ease of application. However, water facilitates bacterial growth. This is why conventional products need to use preservatives in their products. No water, no preservatives.
