Mornings tend to be difficult for most people. Feeling rushed the second your alarm clock goes off can set a negative tone for the rest of the day and can make it seem like you don’t get a moment to breathe.
Here are 3 simple changes you can implement now to make mornings less hectic and more enjoyable.One.
Go to bed earlier. Are you guilty of pressing snooze? We set ourselves up to be rushed in the morning by simply hitting the snooze button. You set your alarm with intentions to get up at a specific time in order to accomplish what you need to do before heading out the door, so by pressing snooze you are taking time away from those tasks which leads you to rush. By going to bed earlier you won’t feel the need to press snooze and will be able to wake up ready to take on the day without feeling rushed to get out the door.Two.
Make lunches the night before. I know I personally have great intentions of taking a healthy-ish lunch everyday to work. However, if I am feeling rushed in the morning I grab a granola bar and some almonds and run out the door. I am either depriving myself of a good lunch, or I am enabling myself to justify going through the drive-thru window. By making lunches the night before you are saving money by not being tempted by going out to lunch, but you are also fueling your body to make it through the second half of the day.Three.
Put your phone down. It is so easy to get sucked into work first thing in the morning, or even worse, you go down the rabbit hole of social media. Anyone else find yourself doing that? You just want to check to make sure nothing major happened during the night and next thing you know you are looking at your friend from high school’s brother’s fiance’s bachelorette party in Nashville and a half hour has passed. Once your alarm goes off, put your phone down, get up and accomplish everything you need to do, and once you finish those things, then take a scroll.
